JAMMU: The sleuths of Jammu and Kashmir anti narcotics task force (JK-ANTF) have arrested two interstate narco smugglers with huge quantity of contraband weighing approx 600-kg poppy straw during naka checking near Sidhra in city outskirts here.
Sr Superintendent of Police (SSP) J&K ANTF Vinay Kumar said, “On a specific input, the team apprehended two narco smugglers and recovered 600 Kg of Poppy Straw from a truck on its way from Kashmir Valley to Punjab via Jammu.”
Sharing details of anti-drug operation SSP JK-ANTF Mr Kumar said, “On receiving input that the truck (JK03E-7773) is carrying huge quantity of contraband is coming from Kashmir via Jammu, ANTF team laid naka near Environmental Park Sidhra, Narwal Bye Pass, Jammu and intercepted the vehicle.”
“On checking of said vehicle, 24 Plastic bags containing 600 Kg of Poppy Straw concealed under Plywood sheets were recovered from the truck, ” he added.
The SSP JK ANTF said that the two narco smugglers identified as 1) Nasir Farooq S/O Farooq Ahmed R/O Chandhara, Tehsil Pampore, Pulwama 2) Mohammad Amin Rather S/O Abdul Rashid Rather R/O Chandhara, Tehsil Pampore, Pulwama were arrested on the spot.
“ANTF is investigating the forward and backward links of this consignment and more arrests are expected, ” SSP JK ANTF said and further appealed to the general public to share information regarding Narco dealers so that strict actions under law are taken against them.
